Bhundu Boys Story The Bhundu Boys built up a following in Zimbabwe by taking the more traditional guitar styles of chimurenga, adding some rock styling but retaining the feel of the traditional music. Promoter Gordon Muir heard it, flew the Bhundu Boys to England for a tour that became a year-long tour. With praise from Punk/New Wave Elvis Costello Guru and sessions with John Peel the Bhundu Boys secured a deal with Warner Brothers International and Island in the United States. They played Glastonbury in 1987 and 1989. Unfortunately they fell out of favour and lost direction. Life took it's toll but listening to the records show what fine inventive band the Bhundu Boys were. |
